Resources for Parents
At GCLC, our goal is to provide the highest quality of care and education for our students. With this in mind, we operate a Parent Resource Center that provides parents with up-to-date information designed to help them better understand their child's growth and development. Below, you'll find a detailed list of our parental resources.

Parental Support
Along with our general resource center, we offer a few specialized support services for the parents of our charges. This includes our Lending Library, where parents can check out their child's favorite books, as we strongly encourage parents to read to their children daily. We also provide bi-annual evaluations, during which we check children's development and give parents the information they need to work with their children at home.
Additionally, First Steps has established a Memorandum of Understanding with Global Connection to provide early intervention services for children from birth to age three. We also have an agreement with Jackson State University to provide speech and vocabulary development for three- and four-year-olds.
Conferences & Workshops
Parents are welcome to schedule a conference to discuss their child with the director, teacher, or counselor at any time. However, our center schedules parent conferences and workshops two times during the year.
